Jennifer Velloza, PhD, MPH

Dr. Velloza is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Global Health and Infectious Disease Epidemiology. Her research, teaching, and mentoring focus on advancing the field of global mental health and the intersection with HIV and STI prevention specifically for adolescent girls and young women. In her current NIH-funded projects, Dr. Velloza uses implementation science, epidemiology, and behavioral science methods to design, evaluate, and scale-up integrated psychotherapy and HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) delivery models.

Mary Whooley, MD

Mary Whooley MD FACP FAHA FACC FAMIA is a primary care physician, implementation scientist, Professor of Medicine, Epidemiology & Biostatistics, and Director of the Center for Healthcare Improvement and Medical Effectiveness (CHIME) at the San Francisco VA and UCSF. Her work focuses on applying health services research methods (including data science, implementation science, and program evaluation) to accelerate the adoption of evidence-based practices within the VA's national learning healthcare system.

Josue Zapata, MD, MBA

Josué Zapata is the Associate Chief of Staff for Quality, Safety, and Value and Associate Chief of the Medical Service at the San Francisco VA Health System as well as an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. He is also a medical educator for students and residents and serves as a coach within the Bridges curriculum at the UCSF School of Medicine and helps direct the UCSF/Kaiser Undergraduate Research Internship.
